Unfortunately, for many people previous relationships retain a certain power and “aliveness.” What is not resolved can negatively impact the types of partners we next choose, our degree of openness and vulnerability, how we deal with conflict, and our capacity to find happiness in intimacy. Beyond the abstract mantras of “put it in the past” and “move on,” there are no specific guidelines or reliable directives for how to meaningfully reconcile what has occurred in our previous relationships and find a reasonable pathway to our next one. In the next virtual meeting of the Relationship Group Seminar on Saturday, July 18, 2020, 11:45 AM to 1:00 PM, we will review some of the most compelling approaches to the quandary of a broken heart and the regrets that often accompany it.
