The Men's Group Seminar - Dan Ariely on Motivation, Work, and Decision-Making

The Men’s Group Seminar: Dan Ariely on Motivation, Work, and Decision-Making

Jan 10, 2021 | Events

Professor of Psychology and Behavioral Economics at Duke University, and author of Payoff: The Hidden Logic That Shapes Our Motivations (2016), The Honest Truth about Dishonesty (2012), and The Upside of Irrationality: The Unexpected Benefits of Defying Logic at Work and at Home (2010), Dan Ariely investigates the complex and often paradoxical relationships between motivation, performance, and value/worth.  Samples of his thinking include the TED Talk “What Makes Us Feel Good about Our Work” in which Ariely describes his notion of the “IKEA Effect”; and in an interview on Shrink Rap Radio, he illustrates the fundamentally flawed ways in which managers and teachers attempt to motivate. In the next virtual meeting of the Men’s Group Seminar on Saturday, January 16, 2021 (10:15 AM to 11:30 AM), we will explore Ariely’s primary ideas and perspectives.
