A common referral to my practice involves a man who reports that his efforts to express love for his partner are either misinterpreted or unseen. This is a common issue for couples seeking treatment as well, where one partner does not feel loved despite the other partner’s apparent affirming and affectionate gestures. What gets lost in translation? Since the publication of Gary Chapman’s 1992 book The Five Love Languages, scientific research has made considerable progress on identifying how men and women express their love and feel loved. In the next virtual meeting of the Men’s Group Seminar on Saturday, June 6, 2020 (10:15 to 11:30 AM), we will review the latest scientific findings on men’s expressions of love, and take a closer look at gender differences.
