Social psychologist and author of The All-or-Nothing Marriage, Eli Finkel’s research focuses on interpersonal relationships and the determinants of positive long-term marital bonds. His work has centered on the nature of conflict among couples, most notably what he calls the “myopic self-focus” in which relationship partners often cannot see beyond their own agendas. In the next virtual meeting of the Relationship Group Seminar on Saturday, October 2, 2021 (11:45 AM to 1:00 PM), we will explore Finkel’s ideas. His perspective on the “The Marriage Hack,” the “Michelangelo Effect,” and the use of technology in contemporary dating dynamics (centering on deciphering compatibility quickly) are among the topics we will consider.
