The Men’s Group Seminar: Robert Cialdini on Persuasion

Author of Influence: The Psychology of Persuasion and renowned expert on social compliance, Robert Cialdini’s decades of research and consulting with organizations and leaders has generated important insights. Cialdini was initially drawn to the dynamics of influence when he recognized how easily people could be persuaded to cross ethical lines. Cialdini’s six principles of persuasion focus on the factors involved in decision-making among social groups, especially within the business realm. In recent years, he has been especially interested in how authority is enacted within corporate settings, the dynamics of negotiation, the functionality of minority groups, tribalism, and how social media impacts marketing and marketplace responses to products and services. In a podcast discussion entitled “The New Psychology of Persuasion,” Cialdini elaborates on his understanding of how people’s perceptions and behavior are influenced. In the next virtual meeting of the Men’s Group Seminar on Saturday, December 18, 2021 (10:15 to 11:30 AM), we will explore Cialdini’s work.
